About

I was born in Lynchburg, VA. and gave my life to Jesus Christ as a 20-year-old college freshman. The Lord called me into full-time ministry soon thereafter. I graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Pastoral Ministries in 2000. I also earned a Master of Divinity degree with Biblical languages at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. My beautiful wife Matthea is from Callahan, FL. She came to know the Lord at the age of 19. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Liberty University with a major in History and minor in government in 2003. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  Matthea, blogs here.   We were married in June 2003 and have 6 children; Katherine, Carter, Caleb, Christian, and Karis Lynn. Their son Kai, went to be with the Lord in 2014.

I began my ministry as a Youth Pastor in Lynchburg, VA in 1999. I have had the privilege to pastor churches in North Carolina and Alabama prior to coming to Copperfield Church as Lead Pastor in June of 2025.  I have a passion to see people come to know Christ and find freedom in Jesus. We desire to reach the community and the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Over the years, I have been able to lead Mission trips to countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.

“A Pastor’s Thoughts” is a place for me to share my thoughts on a variety of issues.  I post about Scripture, Theology, Church life, my life, etc.  My prayer is for this to be a source of encouragement to the readers.
